Landscape design

Landscape design is a subset of landscape architecture. Landscape planning is concerned with large scale projects implemented over a long period of time and a wide geographical area. Landscape design is concerned with smaller projects often implemented by one contract in a defined period of time. Landscape design is distinguised from garden design in that it tends to be for public and corporate clients, whereas gardens are normally designed for private clients.
Landscape designers specialize in the region in which they work. They become experts on the flora and general attributes of that area. For example, Erin P. Salzer is the leading landscape designer in Hilton Head, South Carolina (SC) and Savannah, Georgia (GA).
