Lane Davies (born July 31, 1950) is an American actor. He was born in Dalton, Georgia.

He graduated Cum Laude with a degree in speech and Theatre from Middle Tennessee University.

On stage, Lane has worked with such companies as the Trinity Square Repertory Company of Providence, Rhode Island; Atlanta’s Alliance Theater; Houston's Alley Theatre; The Old Globe Theater in San Diego and the Georgia Shakespeare Festival, the Globe Playhouse in Los Angeles, as well as with the two companies he founded and co-founded. His classical credits include "Henry IV," "Mark Antony," "Hamlet," "Petruchio," "Benedick," "Proteus," "Orlando," "Oberon," "Tybalt," "Orsino," "Macbeth," and "Richard III" among others, as well as the direction of several productions. Some of his more contemporary work includes: "Boolie" in "Driving Miss Daisy," "David Crockett in the highly acclaimed, "Crockett By Himself," "Slim" in "Of Mice and Men" and William Desmond Taylor in a revival of "Mack and Mabel".

In 1997, He co-founded and continues to serve as co-artistic director for the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company in cooperation with Cal Lutheran University. The Kingsmen Shakespeare Company is a professional nonprofit theatre organization.

On television, his most well-known role is that of Mason Capwell on the now-defunct soap opera Santa Barbara. He played the role from the show's debut in July 1984 until April 1989. While still appearing regularly on Santa Barbara, he also played the lead in such plays as, "Hamlet," "Macbeth," "Much Ado About Nothing," and "The Taming of the Shrew," "Cyrano de Bergerac," and directed a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." He also founded the Santa Susana Repertory Company, a nonprofit professional theatre company dedicated to cultural enrichment of the community through the presentation of outstanding plays and musicals from the repertories of American and world classics. Today, he continues to serve as the company’s artistic director. He left Santa Barbara after a series of arguments with co-star Nancy Lee Grahn over the direction of his character, however the main reason stated for exiting the show was exhaustion. When he first left the show, he was quoted as saying, "It's not that I'm looking for another kind of challenge as far as acting is concerned. I'm just ready for a rest more than a challenge. I've kind of challenged myself into an early grave." He took a six-month around-the-world tour and returned to the United States in February 1990.

In 1993, he filled for Ronn Moss as Ridge Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful as temporary replacement while Moss was on leave.

He has appeared in four short-lived comedies; Good & Evil, Woops!, The Crew, and The Mommies.

His later roles included a stint on the series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in which he played an evil killer from the future named Tempus. He also had recurring roles on 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Practice, Coach, Scrubs, and Mel Gibson's Complete Savages.

He has also played numerous guest starring roles in various situation comedies and dramas such as Married with Children, Seinfeld, The Nanny, Just Shoot Me, Dallas, Major Dad, The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, and Ellen. Lane Davies has a ready wit and flawless dead-pan delivery, which was perfect for his episodic television work and for the role of Mason Capwell, but wasn't used to it's full potential during his most recent soap opera work.

He played Dr. Cameron Lewis on General Hospital from 2002 to 2004, once again playing opposite Nancy Lee Grahn.

Also in 2002, Lane played a role in the first Russian-American television crime drama, "Russians in the City of Angels," also known as "A Force of One", a new 12-part series that aired in Russia. Besides Lane, other American actors featured on the show included Eric Roberts, Gary Busey, and Sean Young as well as Russian stars such as acclaimed Russian filmmaker and actor Rodion Nahapetov, and Katerina Redkina.

His film roles include "The Magic of Lassie" with James Stewart, Stephanie Zimbalist, and Mickey Rooney; "Body Double" with Melanie Griffith; "Impure Thoughts" with Brad Dourif; and "Funland" with David L. Lander, and William Windom.

Lane has served as a member, roaming ambassador, and a Vice President of the International Federation of Festival Organizers (FIDOF), FIDOF’s aim is to promote Peace and Friendship through Music and Art. The organization believes in bringing people together from around the world regardless of their political, economic, or religious beliefs. Artists are excellent ambassadors and Music is the universal language that reflects the true beauty inside a person’s soul. FIDOF is a nonprofit organization.

Lane is actively involved in sharing his passion and experience in acting by mentoring and teaching the art in various settings including grade schools, high schools, colleges, and universities.

Currently, he resides in Georgia with his family.
