Larmor equation
From Free net encyclopedia
In physics, the Larmor equation, named for Irish physicist Joseph Larmor, states that
- <math> \omega = g \mathbf{B} </math>
The equation describes the relationship between the angular frequency <math> \omega </math> of a precessing proton, and the strength of the magnetic field B. Here g is the gyromagnetic ratio, a constant unique to the nucleus of each element. The most useful application of the Larmor equation is in nuclear magnetic resonance and MRI.
