Lawrence Pazder is a late (April 30, 1936 - March 5, 2004) Canadian psychiatrist and a co-author (with Michelle Smith), of "Michelle Remembers".
Dr. Pazder, a charismatic and popular psychiatrist, was born in Edmonton, Alberta. With his first wife, Marylyn, he had four children.
Dr. Pazder is best known for his book, "Michelle Remembers". "Michelle Remembers" chronicles Dr. Pazder's therapy with his long-time patient Michelle Smith, in which she allegedly recovered memories of Satanic Ritual Abuse by her parents (Virginia and Jack Proby) and neighbors in Victoria, B.C.
The book also documents Michelle's claims to have had visions of the Virgin Mary and Jesus during her abuse. "Michelle Remembers" was published in 1980 and was the first alleged survivor account of Satanic Ritual Abuse.
Dr. Pazder's psychotherapy included hypnotism as well as urging his patient to convert to Catholism - which she did.
During this time Michelle Smith was named as the correspondent ("other woman") in Dr. Pazder's divorce. Dr. Pazder later married his former patient Michelle - who had been married to Doug Smith during the therapy.
Lawrence Pazder died suddenly and unexpectedly in his home in March of 2004 of a heart attack. Michelle still lives in Victoria.
