Image:FLMap-doton-Layton.PNG Layton is a city located in Monroe County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 186. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 189 [1].

Geography

Layton is located at Template:Coor dms (24.826669, -80.814006)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 12.50% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 186 people, 84 households, and 50 families residing in the city. The population density was 326.4/km² (860.0/mi²). There were 165 housing units at an average density of 289.6/km² (762.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.92% White, 0.54% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 2.15% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 84 households out of which 15.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.0% were married couples living together, 1.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% were non-families. 22.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.21 and the average family size was 2.61.

In the city the population was spread out with 11.3% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 39.8% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 51 years. For every 100 females there were 95.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $53,750, and the median income for a family was $73,750. Males had a median income of $29,896 versus $23,125 for females. The per capita income for the city was $23,773. 15.4% of the population and 11.7% of families were below the poverty line. 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 21.4% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
