• A supporter of liberal democracy.
• A supporter of any number of "liberal democratic" parties around the world, most notably the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and the Liberal Democrats of the United Kingdom.
• A person linked to a substantial faction of the US Democratic Party; in the eyes of many, Senator Ted Kennedy is the model "Liberal Democrat".
