Template:Infobox Slovak town Lučenec [lu-che-nyets] (Hungarian: Losonc, German: Lizenz) is a town in the Banska Bystrica region of south-central Slovakia. Historically, it was part of Nógrád county in the Kingdom of Hungary. In 1918, as a result of the Treaty of Trianon, it was severed, along with much of northern Nógrád county, from the remainder of Hungary. It was the capital of Nógrád in the 18th century. The town has a large abandoned Jewish synagogue, built in 1924. The town had a large pre-WWII Jewish population. The ownership is in question, making restoration impossible.Template:Slovakia-geo-stub
