Lymm

Lymm (pronounced 'Lim') is a large village and civil parish in the town of Warrington, Cheshire, in north west England.
The parish of Lymm incorporates the hamlets of Booths Hill, Broomedge, Church Green, Deansgreen, Heatley, Heatley Heath, Little Heatley, Oughtrington, Reddish, Rushgreen and Statham. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 10,552.

Transport
The M56 (junctions 7 & 9) and M6 (Junction 20) motorways are both within 3 miles of Lymm. The conjuction of these motorways is known as the Lymm Interchange.
Waterways
Lymm is situated on the Bridgewater Canal, whilst the Manchester Ship Canal passes close to the north.
Architecture
The centre of Lymm is a designated Conservation Area and contains several fine buildings. These include Lymm Hall, the row of shops on The Cross, Cottages on The Square by the Bridgewater Canal, the old Town Hall, Oughtrington Hall (now Lymm High School) and the parish churches of St Mary (Lymm) and St Peter (Oughtrington).
Trivia
In 2002 it was announced that Lymm had enjoyed the greatest increase in house prices in the country, with average house prices of around £205,000.
Ian Brown from the Stone Roses, various members of the Coronation Street cast, a number of footballers from the nearby cities of Manchester and Liverpool, and Matthew Corbett (best known for the puppet Sooty) all live in the village. The Brazilian football team stayed at the Lymm Hotel during the 1966 World Cup. Bobby Charlton was a Lymm resident.
The old market cross in Lymm known as "The Cross" is the only Grade I listed structure in the Borough of Warrington and is thought to date back to Saxon times
