MC Serch

MC Serch (born Michael Berrin) is an American rapper and former member of the crew 3rd Bass. After two extremely acclaimed albums with the other members of his crew (DJ Richie Rich and Pete Nice), The Cactus Album (1989) and Derelicts of Dialect (1991), Serch launched a solo career with Return of the Product (1992, Def Jam), which launched a hit single with "Back to the Grill", an extension of Main Source's song and featuring Nas. Serch, who served as Nas's manager, also collaborated with the rapper on Illmatic, which is one of the most critically well-respected albums of the 1990s. He also helped get the rapper O.C. into the hip hop industry, getting him a contract with Wild Pitch Records after hearing him on the Organized Konfusion song, "Fudge Pudge".
Serch has since retired from performing and ran a promotions company (Serch Light Productions), as well as becoming a radio host. He has been the Host of "Serch In The AM" on Detroit Urban Radio Station WJLB since 2001. He is the first Jewish DJ at WJLB. He appeared in Spike Lee's "Bamboozled." as one of the Mau Maus. His character was a white revolutionary who was supposed to be 1/16th African-American. [1]
In March, 2006, MC Serch was dismissed from FM 98 WJLB. Terms of the dismissal were not revealed.MC Serch of 3rd Bass fame was fired from his position @ FM98 WJLB in Detroit for doing a party Super Bowl weekend and overcharging the owner of the club Motor City Live! He had the owner deposit a 25000.00 check for his company Serchlite Productions then an $8000.00 check to host the event.”
