Mamiya

Template:Nihongo (Template:Tyo) is a Japanese company that manufactures cameras, golf equipment, and specialty electronics and optical sensing equipment. With headquarters in the city of Saitama, Saitama Prefecture, it has a capitalization of about 3 000 000 000 yen, sales of 12 500 000 000 and a workforce of over 200 people [1].

Mamiya's medium format cameras are popular among studio and field professionals and dedicated amateurs.

The Mamiya 645 manual focus series

  • The M645 (discontinued) was manufactured from 1975 to 1987. Non-interchangeable back.
  • The M645 1000S (discontinued) was manufactured from 1976 to 1990. Non-interchangeable back.
  • The M645J (discontinued) was manufactured from 1979 to 1982. Basic entry-level camera, non-interchangeable back.
  • The Mamiya 645 Super (discontinued) was manufactured from 1985 to 1993.
  • The Mamiya 645 Pro (discontinued) was manufactured from 1993 to 1998.
  • The Mamiya 645 Pro-TL (current model) was first released in 1997.
  • The Mamiya 645E (current model) was first released in 2000. Entry-level camera, non-interchangeable back, popular among beginners.

The Mamiya 645 auto focus series

  • The Mamiya 645AFD was first released in 2001.

Mamiya does not manufacture digital backs for its cameras, but they are available through other manufacturers [2]

The rotating back on the RB-67 and RZ-67 models lets the photographer take photos in landscape and portrait orientation without having to reorient the camera.

History

Many Mamiya models over the past six decades have become collectors' items. The earliest Mamiya 6, the 35 mm Mamiya-Sekor 1000DTL, the square-shooting C series of twin-lens reflex cameras, and the press cameras of the Super/Universal series are highly valued. Mamiya also manufactured the last models in the Omega line of medium format cameras. One of Mamiya's most recent cameras is the Mamiya ZD. It has an unparalleled megapixel rating of 22million pixels.
