Manitowoc Rapids is a town located in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,520.

Geography

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 2,520 people, 809 households, and 669 families residing in the town. The population density was 35.6/km² (92.1/mi²). There were 822 housing units at an average density of 11.6/km² (30.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.97% White, 0.16% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.48% from other races, and 0.12% from two or more races. 0.95% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 809 households out of which 34.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.5% were married couples living together, 3.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.3% were non-families. 14.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the town the population was spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 22.9% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $56,548, and the median income for a family was $61,575. Males had a median income of $37,083 versus $24,301 for females. The per capita income for the town was $21,323. 11.1% of the population and 1.4% of families were below the poverty line. 4.4% of those under the age of 18 and 34.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
