Maple Heights is a city located in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 26,156.

Maple Heights is located at 41°24'44" North, 81°33'35" West (41.412353, -81.559593)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²). 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 26,156 people, 10,489 households, and 6,964 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,945.8/km² (5,039.1/mi²). There were 10,935 housing units at an average density of 813.5/km² (2,106.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 51.65% White, 44.34% African American, 0.13% Native American, 1.73% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.47% from other races, and 1.66% from two or more races. 1.21% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 10,489 households out of which 30.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% were married couples living together, 17.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% were non-families. 29.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the city the population was spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 87.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $40,414, and the median income for a family was $48,580. Males had a median income of $35,268 versus $28,023 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,676. 5.9% of the population and 4.7% of families were below the poverty line. 7.7% of those under the age of 18 and 6.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
