Marble is a city located in Itasca County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 695.
Geography
Image:MNMap-doton-Marble.png According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²). 11.2 km² (4.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.27% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 695 people, 287 households, and 179 families residing in the city. The population density was 62.3/km² (161.3/mi²). There were 308 housing units at an average density of 27.6/km² (71.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.83% White, 0.00% African American, 1.29% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 1.44% from two or more races. 0.86% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 287 households out of which 33.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.7% were married couples living together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% were non-families. 31.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.42 and the average family size was 3.01.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 107.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $27,361, and the median income for a family was $36,667. Males had a median income of $25,875 versus $22,188 for females.
