Biography
Masterplan was formed in 2002 by Roland Grapow and Ulli Kusch, both of whom left the German Power Metal sensation Helloween in the fall of 2001.
At the start, Roland and Ulli were assisted by Russel Allen (Star One, Ayreon) on vocals, Jürgen Attig on bass and Janne Wirman on keyboards.
At the time their first MCD Enlighten me was released, the line-up had changed. Russel Allen was replaced by Jørn Lande (Yngwie Malmsteen), while Jürgen Attig handed his bass over to Jan S. Eckert (Iron Savior).
By the time their first full-length and self-titled CD was released in 2003, Janne Wirman was replaced by Axel Mackenrott (Punch TV).
The band got the "European Border Breakers" award in 2004 from the European Commission. While the jury wasn't entirely pleased with the award going to long-haired, leathercoats that played loud music, the CD-sales spoke for themselves.
In 2005 they released the magnificent Aeronautics which once again confirmed the genius of Masterplan and Roland Grapow in particular.
Masterplan has announced a new album on their offical websit. The album is scheduled for March 2007. Recordings will take place in September and October 2006. Andy sneap, producer of the two previous albums will also produce this album.
