Merrin Dungey, born August 6, 1971, Sacramento, California, is a film and television actress. Although she was active in ballet and dance beginning at the age of four and later learned piano and became an ice skater, she didn't begin acting until she was 18 at UCLA. [1] She is best-known for her role as Francie Calfo on the successful television drama Alias, which she played from 2001 to 2003, and - given the show's nature - rumors persist of her making a return. Dungey has also appeared in the television series The King of Queens (1999-present) and Summerland (2004 - 2005), as well as Kitty Kernaban, Stevie's mother, in Malcolm in the Middle
