Michigantown is a town located in Clinton County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 406.

Geography

Michigantown is located at 40°19'41" North, 86°23'32" West (40.328070, -86.392275)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²). 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 406 people, 155 households, and 117 families residing in the town. The population density was 602.9/km² (1,533.6/mi²). There were 164 housing units at an average density of 243.5/km² (619.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.26% White, 0.00% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.25% from two or more races. 0.74% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 155 households out of which 41.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% were married couples living together, 18.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% were non-families. 22.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.03.

In the town the population was spread out with 30.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 88.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.7 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $45,625. Males had a median income of $32,656 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the town was $21,102. 5.0% of the population and 2.5% of families were below the poverty line. 5.0% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
