Template:Chicagoland municipality Midlothian is a village located in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 14,315.

Geography

Midlothian is located at 41°37'35" North, 87°43'17" West (41.626383, -87.721373)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.3 km² (2.8 mi²). 7.3 km² (2.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 14,315 people, 5,158 households, and 3,744 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,953.0/km² (5,059.5/mi²). There were 5,386 housing units at an average density of 734.8/km² (1,903.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 88.27% White, 6.13% African American, 0.15% Native American, 1.65% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 2.25% from other races, and 1.53% from two or more races. 6.82% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 5,158 households out of which 37.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.9% were married couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.4% were non-families. 22.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.26.

In the village the population was spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $50,000, and the median income for a family was $58,945. Males had a median income of $43,693 versus $31,116 for females. The per capita income for the village was $20,150. 7.0% of the population and 5.5% of families were below the poverty line. 7.3% of those under the age of 18 and 9.4% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
