Neelix is a fictional character in the fictional universe of Star Trek: Voyager (STV). Neelix is played by Ethan Phillips in the series. The character is originally from Rinax, a moon of the planet Talax, in the Delta quadrant. His family, including a sister named Alixia, were killed in one of the wars with the Haakonian Order.

In the pilot of STV, Neelix and his Ocampan girlfriend Kes join the Voyager crew. Neelix offers his services as a guide to the Delta quadrant. He soon takes over the mess hall and becomes the Mess officer; although Neelix's culinary skills were not entirely flawless, the ubiquitousness of replicators (whose use had to be rationed in light of the Voyager's theoretically limited power supplies) in the Federation had rendered cooking something of a lost art among humans and other species, so no one else on the ship was even as good a cook as he was. As the series progresses, Neelix becomes more and more valuable to Voyager, and is promoted to morale officer and even ambassador.

Voyager security chief Tuvok "tolerated" Neelix, and his attitude did not change even after being fused with him into a being called Tuvix during a transporter mishap.

Neelix leaves Voyager (as well as STV) in the seventh season episode "Homestead", in which he goes to live with a colony of exiled Talaxians, marrying into one of the local families.

"Pathfinder" project engineer (and former USS Enterprise crewmember) Reginald Barclay named his cat after Neelix.
