Academic Works
Professor Sir Neil MacCormick has written numerous journal articles, book contributions and books, centring both around Law in a European context and the philosophy of law. His book contributions of Legal Right and Social Democracy: Essays in Legal and Political Philosophy (1984, Oxford University Press); Legal Reasoning and Legal Theory (1978, Clarendon Press); and Rhetoric and The Rule of Law (2005, Oxford University Press all convey his particular brand of political philosophy, with Legal Reasoning and Legal Theory being all the more important as it answered many of the Dworkinian critiques of the Hartian conception of law, indeed showing a middle ground between the two.
