Newbery Honor

The Newbery Honor is a citation given by the Association for Library Service to Children of the American Library Association (ALA) to select American children's books. The Newbery Honor is given to worthy runner ups for the Newbery Medal, a higher honor. Though the Newbery Honor was initiated in 1971, specially cited runners-up for the Newbery Medal from previous years were retroactively named Newbery Honor books.
