Niels Bohr Institute for Astronomy, Physics and Geophysics

The Niels Bohr Institute for Astronomy, Physics and Geophysics is part of the Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen. It was founded 1 January 1993 by consolidation of the Niels Bohr Institute with several other departments.

The Niels Bohr Institute is responsible for all the teaching of physics at the University of Copenhagen.

The four main departments of the Institute are the Astronomical Observatory, the Department of Geophysics, the Niels Bohr Institute and the Ørsted Laboratory. Some of the experimental work takes place at CERN, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and DESY. The areas of research includes:


Each year in march a group of students at the Niels Bohr Institute perform the popular cabaret "FysikRevy(TM)", celebrating the subject of physics.
