Old Harbor is a city located in Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 237.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 70.4 km² (27.2 mi²). 54.4 km² (21.0 mi²) of it is land and 16.0 km² (6.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 22.76% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 237 people, 79 households, and 51 families residing in the city. The population density was 4.4/km² (11.3/mi²). There were 111 housing units at an average density of 2.0/km² (5.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 13.08% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 73.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 13.92% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 79 households out of which 44.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 32.9% were married couples living together, 13.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 26.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.00 and the average family size was 3.60.

In the city the population was spread out with 39.7% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 4.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 27 years. For every 100 females there were 127.9 males. For every 100 females of age 18 and over, there are 142.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $32,500, and the median income for a family was $26,000. Males had a median income of $33,750 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,265. 29.5% of the population and 30.8% of families were below the poverty line. 32.5% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
