Open Water

An open water jump is also an obstacle found in the equestrian sport of show jumping.
Open Water is a 2003 film inspired by a true story about American couple, Tom and Eileen Lonergan, who in 1998 went with a scuba group, (Outer Edge Dive Company), into the South Pacific. They were accidentally left behind due to a faulty head count taken by the dive boat crew. There were 26 other divers and 5 crew members who failed to notice that the couple were not onboard.
The movie was financed by director Chris Kentis and his wife, producer Laura Lau, both avid scuba divers. The movie originally cost $130,000 to make and was later bought by Lions Gate Films for $2.5 million after its screening at the Sundance Film Festival.

Plot summary
The story is told from the speculative point of view of the American couple, Daniel Kintner (Daniel Travis) and Susan Watkins (Blanchard Ryan), who are left behind in the ocean, somewhere in the tropics. They find themselves drifting endlessly for hours on end, facing dehydration, saltwater sickness, bouts of hunger, mental and physical exhaustion, jellyfish stings, and a most frightening menace–sharks. Although several boats and ships pass by within the couple's view, none sees them, and they are not discovered missing until the following morning when the dive boat crew discovers their gear on the boat, and their hotel manager discovers they never returned to their room. Frantically a search is mounted by plane, boat and helicopter. But it was too late for the young couple, adrift in the open water.
The movie is notable for using live sharks rather than mechanical sharks (as in Jaws) or computer-generated sharks (as in Deep Blue Sea). The movie strives to present authentic shark behavior rather than the stereotypical exaggeration common of movies that feature such predators.
This movie was received with somewhat lukewarm reviews.
