Oxford Instruments

Oxford Instruments plc is a United Kingdom manufacturing and research company operating in the fields of instrumentation, analysis, plasma processing cryogenics and superconductivity.

The company was founded by Sir Martin Wood to manufacture large superconducting magnets for use in Magnetic Resonance Imaging machines. It was one of the first spin-out companies from the University of Oxford and still one of the most successful.

The company is headquartered in Eynsham, Oxfordshire and supplies its products worldwide for applications in scientific research, industrial analysis and healthcare.

Its large magnet manufacturing factories, at Eynsham in Oxfordshire, were sold to Siemens AG in 2004.
