Parliamentary procedure
From Free net encyclopedia
A parliamentary procedure is the individual process used for decision making by a deliberative assembly.
Both Common Law of Parliamentary Procedure and Robert's Rules of Order specify parliamentary procedures that have been prominently used, but the term itself does not specify the usage of either of these prescribed rules of order. Instead, it generally refers to any established procedure to make a decision by deliberation.
Parliamentary procedures vary amongst assemblies. In jurisdictions subject to English Common Law, an assembly's parliamentary procedure is specified by the Common Law of Parliamentary Procedure plus the assembly's Rules of Order and Special Rules of Order.
