Pastor Troy (born Micah Levar Troy c. 1980 in College Park, Georgia) is an American rapper. His songs are notable for a mix of religious background and street lyrics, which surprises many listeners.

Biography

Troy was raised under the eyes of his father. His father was a drill instructor turned pastor who tried to lead Troy down the path of the straight and narrow. Therefore, Troy grew up in the church, but was still tempted to indulge in acts that contradicted what was taught there. Growing up in Augusta, GA, and later moving to Atlanta, Troy was exposed to many aspects of street life, the influence of which can be heard in the lyrics of his music. He attended Creekside High School in the Atlanta area.

Troy's album Universal Soldier contains a mixture of street life and religion. Despite the dichotomy present, Troy is still able to represent each side in an equal light.

Pastor Troy is not only a solo artist; he is featured in several songs by other artists. Ludacris featured Troy on his album Back for the First Time in the song "Get Off Me." White Dawg has produced songs for Troy, notably their collaboration "FL Boy." In addition, Pastor Troy is also the front man of the rap group DSGB (Down South Georgia Boys). This group had a hit with the song "DSGB". Troy was also featured on the collaborative album Kings of Crunk in the song "Throw it Up." Troy and then friend Lil' Jon reached the top of the charts in the south with songs such as "Vica Versa" and "Roll Call".

Troy later released one of his more commercial albums, By Any Means Necessary, in 2003. This album featured songs like the hit "I'm Ridin' Big". FOllowing this release, Pastor Troy was released from his Universal contract because of creativity disputes. He then released Face Off Part 2, which addressed some issues with Big Sam of the Eastside Boyz, added new songs, and even remade some of his hits. In 2005, he appeared on fellow Southern rapper, Chamillionaire's album, The Sound of Revenge.

Pastor Troy is due to come out with two new albums due in mid-April (Money and Power, Stay True). The former Universal artist is now a part of 845 Ent., who had also previously worked with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. The first single from the album is "Police Can't Break It Up".
