Pentangle is a synonym for pentagram. The pentangle represents the endless knot.

This sign was pictured on the shield carried by Sir Gawain when he left on his quest to meet the Green Knight.

Each point of the pentangle represents:

• The five joys of Mary

  • The Nativity

  • Chivalry

  • Friendliness

• When used by followers of the Wiccan or Neopagan path, the pentangle can represent the five elements.
