In the science fiction series, Star Trek, the Phoenix was the first man-made spacecraft to travel beyond the speed of light. It was the first successful use of warp drive by humans.

The fictional characters Zefram Cochrane and Lily Sloane constructed the Phoenix (which was technically a prototype) from an old nuclear missile, described as a Titan V.

The voyage of the Phoenix occurred in 2063, and its mission initiated the first communication between Earth and extraterrestrials when a Vulcan exploratory vessel detected the ship's warp signature. The Phoenix was seen in the motion picture Star Trek: First Contact, as well as the opening sequence of the spin-off, Enterprise.

Seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation, the USS Phoenix was a Nebula class starship seen in the episode The Wounded, and was apparently named after the original Phoenix.
