A pie crust is the pastry of a pie.

Recipe

There are four necessary ingredients for a standard pie crust: flour (all purpose is just fine), salt (a shake, or an eighth of a teaspoon for each crust), fat (solid vegetable shortening will assure the best results, butter is the worst choice of fat, particularly salted butter, which is what most people will have on hand), and ice water (ice cubes floating in a small bowl of water as you mix the flour, salt, and shortening will be the right temperature when it is time to mix in the water).
