Platte Purchase

The Platte Purchase, a historic region of the United States was the territory included between the Missouri River and the original Missouri state line. The land was ceded by the Sac and Fox, and U.S. President Martin Van Buren proclaimed the area part of Missouri on 28 March 1837. The Platte Purchase includes Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Holt, Nodaway and Platte counties.
