A point source may refer to one of the following:
- a source of air pollution emissions which has one specific coordinate such as a stack.
- a source of light that is treated as having no physical extension.
- a source of noise pollution that emanates from a specific location (for example, not a roadway).
- a source in fluid flow, or in electrostatics.
- a source of water pollution coming from a single location, such as wastewater outfall.
- a source of wave action such as a stone thrown into water.
