Polyphenols are a group of plant chemical substances, characterized by the presence of more than one phenol group per molecule. The polyphenols are responsible for the coloring of some plants—for example, the color of leaves in the autumn.

Research suggests that polyphenols are actually a powerful type of antioxidant with potential health benefits. Sources of polyphenols include green tea, white tea, red wine, olive oil, dark chocolate, and pomegranates.

These antioxidants help prevent the spread of cancer by targeting molecular pathways that shut down the proliferation and spread of tumor cells, as well as inhibiting the growth of tumor nurturing blood vessels.Template:Fact
