Project Gotham Racing 2 (PGR2 for short) is a racing game for the Xbox, developed by Bizarre Creations and published by Microsoft and is the sequel to the highly successful Project Gotham Racing.
As in PGR the route to advancement in PGR2 differs from most racing games. Advancement in PGR2 was down to a combination of driving fast enough to meet the challenge set, and scoring enough Kudos points to advance. Kudos points are gained through the player's driving skills, such as power sliding around a corner at speed, or overtaking other NPCs in the race. The Kudos system, challenges set, available cars and the tracks around which players race were expanded greatly from the original.
PGR2 supports Xbox Live and allows players to race against other people all around the world.

Downloadable content
As part of the Xbox Live online service, extra content not included with the original game can be downloaded. Project Gotham Racing 2 supports this feature.
So far Bizarre Creations have released two premium downloadable content packages for PGR2, which allow new tracks and cars to be downloaded for a small fee.
These packs are:-
Long Beach Booster Pack - Released June 2004 - Eight new cars, including the Ariel Atom 2 & VW Nardo as well as eight tracks based around Long Beach.
Paris Booster Pack - Released May 2004 - Eight new cars, including the Ferrari 250TR as well as seven tracks situated in Paris, France.
Of note, the Long Beach Booster Pack is no longer available, though it still has the appearance of being available. Download initiates, and then terminates immediately, while charging the user for the content. When Microsoft will correct this issue with currupted content, including Long Beach and several Xbox Live Arcade titles, is currently unknown.
Geometry Wars
Geometry Wars came as a pleasant surprise to many who played Project Gotham Racing 2 on the Xbox. The mini-game was accessible through the in-game garage, simply by walking up to the arcade machine and hitting [A]. The premise is simple; fly geometric "ship" around the screen, avoiding the enemies whilst shooting them down for points. Players start with a few lives, and are given a couple of bombs. More lives and bombs are gained the longer players survive, although the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly!
