RFC 1777
From Free net encyclopedia
RFC 1777 provides the technical specification for version 2 of the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, also known as LDAP, for accessing X.500 directory services. RFC 1777 obsoleted RFC 1487 and was obsoleted by RFC 3494.
While there still exists products purporting to implement version 2 of LDAP in the wild, the specification was declared historic (see RFC 3494) due to interoperability problems and security concerns. Version 2 of LDAP is considered deprecated in favor of version 3 of LDAP. Version 3 of LDAP is specified in RFC 3377.
