Rabite

Rabites are rabbit-like monsters from the video game series Seiken Densetsu (also known as the "Mana" series) developed by Square Enix (originally Squaresoft). It is the trademark creature of Seiken Densetsu games, much in the same way that the chocobo represents the Final Fantasy series.
Rabites come in a variety of colours, namely:
- Yellow: the typical rabite enemy found in most Seiken Densetsu games. It is fairly weak (often around 30 HP), does not know magic, and tends to yield little experience and money. It is also the colour of rabite pets in Legend of Mana (see below).
- Pink: also known as a "rabilion" in Seiken Densetsu 3, or as a "silktail" in Secret of Mana. Silktails are a stronger version of a rabite enemy, know some curative magic, and give a better experience and money yield than yellow rabites.
- Lilac: enemy rabites in Legend of Mana; they are also the "king rabites" found in the Mana Holyland of Seiken Densetsu 3, which are even tougher than "rabilions".
- Black: A special type of rabite that is either:
- a hidden boss in Seiken Densetsu 3, a magic-wielding rabite that is reputed to be the most powerful boss in the entire game; or
- the result of an easter egg in Sword of Mana: by killing 1000 normal rabites, it is possible to "upgrade" any rabites encountered thereafter into "black rabites", which are more physically powerful than normal rabites but do not know magic like their Seiken Densetsu 3 counterpart.
Image:Vs rabites.jpg Rabites are known for their biting and leaping attacks. In Legend of Mana, they also have a "star" projectile attack (a charm attack based on their cuteness), which decreases its foes' special attack gauge.
Rabites can be kept as pets in Legend of Mana. Although not very strong in battles, they have a useful health recovery effect when they are in the player's party.
A rabite also appeared in the Legend of Mana manga by Shiro Amano, as a dangerous and cuddly comic relief character and emergency food ration for the main hero.
In the Japanese version of the game, a rabite is simply called a "rabi".
