Ramsey is a city located in Anoka County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 18,510.

Geography

Image:MNMap-doton-Ramsey.png According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 77.0 km² (29.7 mi²). 74.6 km² (28.8 mi²) of it is land and 2.5 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.19% water.

People

- Ramsey MN is home to many diverse individuals. Many are caucasian-american families living in suburbia. As of the recent developments the majority of the properties are inexpensive 1/10 acre plots. The developing of these homes has brought many young families to the area. Originally the plots were multi-acre spacious homes. Tom Gamec was the one to bring about this change. The sudden change is apparent on account of the stark contrast between the new and old homes. Ramsey is home to boyscout troop 362. They are a many year old troop. The current scoutmaster is Brad Franzman. Troop 362 has assisted the community on many occasions. They have picked up trash, they planted trees, and they've done various other service projects.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 18,510 people, 5,906 households, and 5,102 families residing in the city. The population density was 248.2/km² (642.9/mi²). There were 5,946 housing units at an average density of 79.7/km² (206.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.80% White, 0.31% African American, 0.45% Native American, 1.00% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.28% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. 1.19% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 5,906 households out of which 49.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.8% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.6% were non-families. 8.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.13 and the average family size was 3.33.

In the city the population was spread out with 32.1% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 35.5% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 2.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 106.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $68,988, and the median income for a family was $70,926. Males had a median income of $43,898 versus $31,212 for females. The per capita income for the city was $26,057. 1.6% of the population and 1.3% of families were below the poverty line. 2.1% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.io:Ramsey, Minnesota
