Raw

Raw describes material that is in its natural unprocessed form, or has not had the final stages of processing. For example, raw food refers to food that has not been cooked, and raw silk is the term for unprocessed silk. Raw also has symbolic meaning. See Claude Lévi-Strauss's The Raw and the Cooked.
Raw also refers to:
- Research and Analysis Wing, the external Indian intelligence wing
- Raw is also the name of World Wrestling Entertainment's Monday Night Raw program
- a camera raw image file used by digital cameras, containing the unprocessed data from the sensor.
- Read After Write: technologies such as CD-R and CD-RW which allow reading data immediately after writing, as opposed to CD-ROMs which usually go through mass replication before it can be read
- In computing:
- An uncompressed disk image.
- a Unix file format containing insufficient information for proper screen mapping of characters Linux User's Manual CONSOLECHARS(8)
- part of the name for the long running wrestling show World Wrestling Entertainment, e.g. WWE RAW
- the name of various bars and nightclubs
- a television series named Raw FM, produced by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation [1]

- an Australian narrowcast radio network named RawFM [2]
- Radio Warwick, or RaW, the University of Warwick student radio station
- a large-format, avant-garde alternative comics magazine named Raw, launched in 1980, and edited by Françoise Mouly and Art Spiegelman
- Eddie Murphy Raw, an American stand-up comedy starring Eddie Murphy.
- the Rules as Written
- American futurist and author Robert Anton Wilson, often referred to by his initials
- a term used in file trading networks for untranslated media primarily from Japan, especially anime that have not been translated and subtitled by a fansub group, as well as manga that have not been scanslated by a scanlation group
- Raw Magazine, EMAP's metal magazine of the 1980s and early 1990s, relaunched as a Britpop magazine in the mid 1990s.
- one of several dozen acronyms "RAW", including "Raw Architecture Workstation", "Read-After-Write", and ""Ready and Willing" [3]
- sexual intercourse engaged in without using a condom is said to be raw. [4]
