Brief history

The consortium behind Reading 107 FM submitted their bid for a local commercial radio station in September 2001. The licence was awarded in March 2002.

Reading 107 FM launched at 8am on 22 October, 2002 by former breakfast presenter Tim Grundy. The first song played was 'Listen To The Music' by The Doobie Brothers.

The studios are located within the Madejski Stadium, which is the home of Reading F.C. and London Irish.

Community links

The station has strong links with the surrounding communities, with 'My Reading' bulletins broadcast throughout the day focusing on a different event or community group.

Sports coverage

Reading 107 FM enjoys close association with local sports clubs. It is the official station of Reading F.C. and Rugby Union side London Irish. Coverage of every football match is broadcast on The Royal Box.
