Established in 1964, Red Deer College is a college of approximately 10,000 students located in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. It offers adult upgrading, certificate programs, diploma programs, university transfer courses, applied degree programs and apprenticeship and trades training.

Situated in the central Alberta corridor between Edmonton and Calgary, Red Deer is within driving distance of two international airports, several lakes, and the majestic Rocky Mountains.

Funding Opportunities

Red Deer College awards approximately $288,000 (CAD) annually in scholarships including more than $75,000 (CAD) in Entrance Scholarships and Athletic Awards. Awards may be granted based on academic proficiency, financial need, leadership, community involvement, or any combination of the above. [1]

Athletics

Red Deer College has one of the top athletics programs in Canada, as the Kings and Queens (as of 2004) have the best overall record at national competition of any college in the country. Athletic Director, Allan Ferchuk, received the 2005 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) Athletic Director of the Year Award for his commitment and administrative excellence within the campus or college community environment.

Future

On September 9, 2005 a $29 million dollar expansion was announced that will see the largest single investment in Red Deer College facilities since the original campus was constructed 40 years ago. The entire project is expected to cost about $75 million. Facility components will include: Centre for Trades & Technology, Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing, Centre for Business Enterprise, Centre for Visual Art, Centre for Regional Sport & Wellness and a Centre for Health Education.
