Regal Zonophone Records

Regal Zonophone Records is a British record label formed in 1932, through a merger of Regal Records and Zonophone Records.

Originally Regal Zonophone handled the American releases from Okeh Records, Victor Records and Columbia Records. In the sixties artists like The Move, Procol Harum, Joe Cocker and T Rex joined the label. When these artists left the label lost it impetus and it was closed down by EMI, after this closure many of its artists moved to Fly Records.

Regal Zonophone was reopened at the end of the nineties.

Trivia

  • Regal Zonophone is one of the few record labels commemorated in a song, namely "Magdalene (My Regal Zonophone)" from the album Shine On Brightly by RZ artists Procol Harum.
  • Regal Zonophone originally released Thrillington in 1977.
