Rocket to Russia

Rocket to Russia is one of the most popular albums by American punk rockers the Ramones. Released on November 4 1977 (see 1977 in music), the album incorporates surf rock and other influences. Rocket to Russia includes one of The Ramones' signature songs, "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker". In 1978, the album peaked at #49 on Billboard Music Charts pop albums chart.

Songs
"Rockaway Beach" was penned by bassist Dee Dee Ramone. It is in the style of the Beach Boys and other early rock 'n' roll. It was written about Rockaway Beach, Queens where he liked to spend his time. Johnny Ramone claims that Dee Dee was the only real beachgoer in the groupTemplate:Fact. Released in 1977, it was the Ramones highest charting single in their career. The song hit #66 on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Sheena is a Punk Rocker" was written by lead singer Joey Ramone. It is one of their more popular and enduring songsTemplate:Fact, showing the bands' surf rock influences, and was one of the first songs to use the word 'punk' in the titleTemplate:Fact. Template:Listen
