Silver Lake is a city located in McLeod County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 761.

Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there were 761 people, 330 households, and 207 families residing in the city. The population density was 839.5/km² (2,191.4/mi²). There were 340 housing units at an average density of 375.1/km² (979.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.34% White, 0.13% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.26% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.13% from two or more races. 0.66% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 330 households out of which 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.0% were non-families. 32.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.92.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $36,833, and the median income for a family was $47,917. Males had a median income of $35,000 versus $25,060 for females.
