Sinim
From Free net encyclopedia
Sinim is a land mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, in the Book of Isaiah 49:12. "The house of Israel to be called from the land of Sinim."
This country is unknown, though it is apparent from Isaiah that it was considered one of the most distant lands imaginable. Some scholars have claimed it as another name for the Phoenicians, however, it has been usually assoicated with China (basing it on the root word Sin, which resembles the Latinization for the Chinise Qin, after the Qin dynasty, founded only in 221 BC by Qin Shi Huang-Di).
