Saint-Gilles within the Brussels-Capital Region

Saint-Gilles (French) or Sint-Gillis (Dutch) is one of the nineteen municipalities located in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium.

On 1 January 2005 the municipality had a total population of 43,733. The total area is 2.52 km² which gives a population density of 17,322.06 inhabitants per km².

Saint Gilles has a legendary football club called Royal Union Saint Gilloise which was successful until the thirties.

Saint Gilles is the hometown of the famous architect Victor Horta. The house that he designed for himself (now the Horta Museum) is located there.
