Splodgenessabounds
From Free net encyclopedia
Splodgenessabounds were a United Kingdom punk band. They are best known for the 1980 track, "Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps Please", coining a phrase that lent its name to a BBC sitcom.
Oddly, the track was actually the 'B' side of their single release. The official 'A' side was "Simon Templar", a souped-up version of the theme tune to the once popular TV series The Saint. However, it was the reverse side of the disc that drew favour, whilst the major side of the flip was rarely played.
The fun continued in the spotlight for a short while, under the tutelage of their frontman Max Splodge, as the oi / silly-punk outfit manfully strived to outstay their welcome.
In 2006 they appeared on Harry Hill's "TV Burp", after also being featured on "Rock School" with Gene Simmons. The comedian made fun of how the Kiss front man miss-said the name of their hit single, and they later performed at the end of the show, accompanied by Hill dressed as The Demon - Gene Simmons.
