Star note

From Free net encyclopedia

Image:Star Note.jpg A Star Note is an American bank note which has a star (*) symbol before or after the serial number. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing removes notes that have errors or have been mutilated during the money making process. The bills that are mutilated or have errors are replaced by star notes. They are used to maintain a correct count of notes in a serial number run. Old Star Notes are highly desirable by note collectors. Many star notes are worth more than face value to collectors. Printing errors are quite uncommon. If you happen to obtain a Star Note then you should save it, even if it is considerably recent. In time, its rarity will increase.
