The Sunday Herald is a Scottish Sunday newspaper. It was launched on 7 February 1999 by the Scottish Media Group.
Along with its sister titles The Herald and Evening Times it was sold on 5 April 2003 to Newsquest (a Gannett company) after a very public media debate. Questions were raised in the Scottish Parliament when the Barclay brothers, owners of rival papers The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, looked set to become owners.
Andrew Jaspan was editor from launch until 2004, when he resigned to become editor of The Age in Melbourne, Australia. Richard Walker was named his replacement. Walker, 49, had been with the title since its launch and had served as deputy to Jaspan for five years.
