    • The spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari), a ray (order Rajiformes)
  • Freshwater fishes:
    • In a technical sense, all members of family Centrarchidae (order Perciformes)
    • The various species of genus Lepomis in that family, especially the bluegill and pumpkinseed
    • A number of similar-looking Perciformes of other families, including the pygmy sunfishes
