SuperShadow is the Internet alias of Mickey Suttle, a passionate Star Wars fan, who posts Star Wars news, images and FAQs on his website, www.supershadow.com. His claims, most notably that he is a friend of George Lucas and that he possesses advance copies of screenplays, has made him a controversial figure among Internet Star Wars fans. The only biographical details on his website are as follows:

"As you would expect, all information regarding SuperShadow is above top secret (classified at the highest level). Mysteriously and very enigmatically, nothing is known about SuperShadow except that SS is very close, personal friends with George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars.

SuperShadow is legendary for revealing the plot scripts to Star Wars Episode 1, 2 and 3 many years prior to their theatrical release. Currently, SS is employed by Lucasfilm as a high-paid consultant related to future Star Wars and Indiana Jones projects."

Using the "Whois" function of register.com, it was discovered that supershadow.com is owned by Mickey Suttle, of Hickory, North Carolina. He also owns: www.supershadows.com, www.jamescameron.net, www.ridleyscott.net, www.darthrage.com, www.generalgrievous.net, and www.princessleia1.com,

all of which redirect to www.supershadow.com. Also, another website, www.SirSteveGuide.com, which has a similar URL to www.SirStevesGuide.com (a Star Wars fan site), redirects to www.supershadow.com.

SuperShadow.com

SuperShadow's website first appeared during the production of Star Wars Episode I. He released "exclusive" information and claimed to be an Industrial Light and Magic employee and personal friend of George Lucas. After one day, the following disclaimer appeared:

This web site has no association with Lucasfilm. SuperShadow.com is a fan operated web site that makes no claims as to the copyrights held by Lucasfilm regarding Star Wars. Star Wars, its characters and all related items are copyright Lucasfilm.

Some have assumed that an actual Lucasfilm employee was made aware of the site, and threatened Suttle with legal action. To this day Suttle still claims to be a friend of George Lucas, but no longer claims to be employed by him, or have any "official" connection to Star Wars.

He continued posting what he claimed was news about the new films, all of which turned out to be false- the only exception being the reposting of stories which had already appeared on other websites earlier in the day. He again attracted controversy when he claimed to be in possession of the script for Star Wars Episode II, despite the fact that George Lucas had not finished writing it at the time. SuperShadow's source was "Brad Bender, head of Lucasfilm Internet Relations." It was soon discovered that there has never been a Brad Bender employed by Lucasfilm. To further fans' doubts, Episode II lacked any seeming similarities to SuperShadow's version of the story. His reply to these doubts was that the script he'd received was a "Rough Draft."

SuperShadow claimed to have read the script for Episode III, but could not post any information about it due to copyright law. After enough spoiler information had been released about Episode III to cobble together some kind of basic plot, he posted what he claimed to be the script - it contains only a brief rundown of each scene and no dialogue.

After originally claiming the title of the third prequel (Revenge of the Sith) would be released in late 2004, SuperShadow claimed that Lucasfilm released the title earlier than expected (July instead of November) because one of his readers had successfully guessed it.

On October 1st, Mickey claimed that he had been hired by Lucas for help as a "high paid consultant" regarding future projects and Indiana Jones 4. SuperShadow states that the contract is for ten years, to help create the scripts (which he has already stated he was working on) and the films, and will be paid an annual salary of $522,924, along with food vouchers, fully paid gym privileges, and fully paid health care and housing.

Though many detractors complain that SuperShadow.com contains much misinformation and exaggeration, there is a growing consensus that the joke is on those who take the site seriously in the first place. Many find SuperShadow believable because Mickey Suttle updates his website very frequently and attempts to appear to have obtained information before anyone else did.

SuperShadow's Q&A

Despite the controversy, SuperShadow has attracted a legion of fans who send him their questions, which he answers on his website every day or so. Some have speculated that he may write some of these questions himself, posing them as fan inquiries. These questions pertain to Star Wars history, trivia, and the upcoming movies. They appear on the index page of his site, with the answers in bold text following the questions. Example:

O.K., SS, you promised a long, long time ago and now you must tell us the real Episode III title. Finally someone guessed so speak! Great site and congratulations from Canary Islands, Spain. (SuperShadow: Wish I could, but I just promised Lucas a few days ago that I would not reveal the actual title for Episode 3. The Episode 3 title will be announced on www.starwars.com in November-December 2004.)

SuperShadow's detractors contend that he routinely contradicts himself, and cite the following example:

Hello Almighty SS, still scoring? (SuperShadow: Scoring 24/7!) Can you tell us who trained Palpatine? (SuperShadow: Darth Imperius was the master of Darth Sidious/Palpatine) Thankyou Master Shadow, this site is DA BOMB! (SuperShadow: Everyone says so.)

Then SuperShadow posted some "spoilers" for Episode III which includes this apparent quote from the movie:

"Darth Plagueis was my master. He taught me the key to his power," Palpatine said. Suddenly, Palpatine's voice turned cold, and old: "...before I killed him."

Neither the original information nor the final quote actually appeared in the film. It should be noted that most of his "spoilers" were taken directly from the book, and never appeared in the movie.

On March 28, 2005, it appeared that his website was suspended, although it stated the suspension was "for billing purposes." The website has since been restarted.

Some time in February 2005 SuperShadow claimed in his website that he had spent a few days at the Skywalker Ranch working with Lucas editing Episode III. He listed a detailed hour by hour journal of all the things they supposedly got done. There he explained how Lucas would consult him on many aspects of the contents of the movie. In March-April 2005 his website started to display supposed interviews with several of the actors featured in Episode III, including George Lucas. In these interviews question were generated by the fans. In many occasions, when answering fan questions, Lucas would praise SuperShadow for all his input regarding production, plot ideas, and even the future episodes (if any) of Star Wars. He claimed to have had a huge part in the entire prequel, from script ideas to being an extra in the movies. Yet with such a role in the prequel, his proper names Mike, Michael, Suttle, neither the alias "Shadow" or "SuperShadow" appear on any of the Episodes I and II DVD credits, nor in Episode III movie credits. When a comment was submitted to his website about proper credit credentials, he did not answer.

Just before the release of Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, SuperShadow released an interview with George Lucas himself answering questions and comments that fans submitted to the website. After the mention of the sequel trilogy a few times George Lucas was quoted to have said:

"George Lucas: Whether Episode 7 ever gets made is up to the fans. If Revenge of the Sith is the biggest hit film in 2005, then we will move forward with Episode 7. If the fans let me down and Revenge of the Sith is not as successful as I would like, then we will close the door on the Star Wars films. Box-office failure will prove that there is no longer sufficient interest in Star Wars to justify making yet another trilogy."

He also apparently stated that anymore Star Wars films to be made after would be left up to his children and to SuperShadow.

"Do you really want to make Episodes 7, 8 and 9? George Lucas: Absolutely not. I'm finished making Star Wars films. However, Shadow wants to continue making them. It will take perfect conditions for me to green light the next trilogy. First, Revenge of the Sith will have to be the biggest box-office hit of 2005. Second, the Star Wars TV shows will have to be produced and ready for broadcast. Finally, I will need a five year break before I even come close to considering working on Episode 7. Let's be honest. Episode 7 may never happen. If it happens, you will all have Shadow to thank for it. He is the driving force behind Star Wars. I decided to make Star Wars TV shows based on ideas formulated by Shadow. He is a very brilliant and clever guy. I owe him so much."

On May 25th 2005, www.SuperShadow.com was defaced by an online forum group called g00ns. The group sharply criticized the content of the website:

"This site was defaced by www.g00ns.com. We have grown tired of this site's bullshit, everything on this site is a lie, SuperShadow is not affiliated with George Lucas in anyway. Stop lying to these naive Star Wars fans, you are not a friend of George Lucas, you don't even know the guy. You don't have access to any scripts that aren't already public. And one last thing, you are not going to produce the next trilogy, so stop the bullshit"

After this attack, some fans believe that George Lucas should make an official statement as to whether the friendship is true or a huge joke pulled on naive Star Wars fans.

Star Wars sequel trilogy

SuperShadow claims to possess the scripts, or at least the outlines, for Episodes VII, VIII and IX of Star Wars. These involve an army of Dark Jedi on rocketpacks, a superweapon which creates black holes, and characters fighting clones of each other. An excerpt from Star Wars Episode IX: Victory of the Force, reads as follows:

Ben and Anakin battle Horgon while the real Luke battles the Luke clone and Mara Jade battles the Vader clone. Horgon strikes down Anakin. Ben screams in anger and then lunges at Horgon with all his might. The real Luke cuts the clone Luke in half. The real Luke then turns to fight Horgon in order to prevent Horgon from killing Ben. The Vader clone battles Mara Jade. They exchange many, many blows.

SuperShadow also claims that the sequel trilogy will not be made by Lucasfilm, but by SuperShadow himself, and the fans who support his website. He has never specified when or how, but receives and posts many comments about it regardless.

SuperShadow claims that these scripts have been written by George Lucas, even though the creator of Star Wars has said many times that Revenge of the Sith will be the final Star Wars film.

The two Star Wars TV Series

In response to an October 2, 2005 question by a fan about the two Star Wars TV series: the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars and the live-action series, SuperShadow responded that "I have been given full control over the Star Wars TV shows. Expect greatness."

Most powerful Jedi Knights & Sith Lords

A ranking system containing characters from the Star Wars movies, the Expanded Universe, and others which appear nowhere except SuperShadow.com. Suttle claims that these characters correspond with George Lucas's "vision" of Star Wars, even though most do not have published stories or profiles on StarWars.com

History of the Jedi & Sith

An exhaustive history of the Jedi Knights and their enemies, the Sith. Much of this information can be found nowhere else except SuperShadow.com.

Midichlorian list

SuperShadow claims to have invented the concept of midichlorians, and has compiled a list of each character and their midichlorian count. Most of these characters are not recognised by Lucasfilm and, again, only appear on SuperShadow.com. Interestingly, General Grievous is listed as having a midichlorian count of 11,900 (the average Jedi is listed at 10K), although he displays no Force-powers in the movies, or any other licensed Star Wars material. It was also stated in the official Star Wars guides that Grievous had no Force powers.

History of Star Wars

A chronology of the Star Wars phenomenon, starting in 1974 with the release of George Lucas's second film, American Graffiti. For a long time and for an unexplained reason, "Star Wars" was always highlighted in blue and "History" in yellow, making it look like SuperShadow typed "Star Wars + History" into a search engine and copied the result. The effect looked sloppy and could easily have been changed with little effort - this has lead some to believe that SuperShadow is a parody of obsessed fans, and the site is (in their opinion) deliberately awful. Eventually the section was edited and it no longer contains these highlighted words.

SuperShadow's Episode III Cameo

In the midichlorian list, SuperShadow claims to have a cameo in Episode III starring as a Jedi Knight named "Nebar Foxis." In the "Brief History of the Jedi and Sith," a historical account posted on his site, "Nebar Foxis" is described as "the best looking male Jedi of his time." Suttle did not appear in the film. He previously stated that his part was deleted. When fans exposed that his real name would finally be revealed crediting him as Nebar Foxis he simply said that it would be credited to Shadow. Neither the name Shadow nor Nebar Foxis were displayed in the movie credits. SuperShadow claimed that he could be briefly seen in the hologram security scene.

SS, where were you in the Revenge of the Sith movie? I have seen it 3 times and I still haven't seen you. Did Lucas cut out your scene? If so, maybe Episode 7. (SuperShadow: Nebar Foxis is there. Carefully look at the hologram security footage of Anakin killing Jedi at the Jedi Temple. You can briefly see Anakin mow down Foxis.)

Pablo Hidalgo, a Lucasfilm employee, officially debunked these claims in an issue of Star Wars: Insider. "Foxis" is in fact Cin Drallig, played by Nick Gillard.

Star Wars fan fiction

SuperShadow's readers send in their own stories, which he posts. The section is mostly concerned with Episode III fanscripts.

SuperShadow's filmography

This page claims that "SuperShadow is one of the world's premier documentary film makers. SuperShadow specializes in films about the paranormal, cryptozoology and extraterrestrials," and lists about two dozen documentaries, none of which exist outside of SuperShadow.com. This is unusual, considering that Suttle is a Computer Software engineer. Suttle has also been accused of misquoting executives of the Time-Warner TV company.

SuperShadow's girlfriend

Image:Laurengfss.jpg

SuperShadow has posted numerous glamour photos of a woman he claims is his girlfriend The picture on the left is an example. [1] As of January 2006, the images are taken from the public section of Bullz-Eye.com[2], a subscription-based bikini model website, of a woman named Lauren. The images have been noticeably edited to smudge out the copyright owner information and date.

List of SuperShadow-only creations

Below is a list of claims by SuperShadow that dispute the established canon of the Star Wars Universe, along with some of his creations that cannot be verified outside of SuperShadow and his followers. There are also corrections over them.

  • That Yoda is a Whill (no relation to Journal Of The Whills) from a planet named Grentarik, and that his last name is D'kana. SuperShadow also claims that his father's name was Syville Dmetris D'kana, and that his trainer was Bontu Sitmus, also a Whill. In Star Wars Insider Yoda's master was said to be Brontu Sitmus. Also it is unknown whether or not Brontu Sitmus was the same species as Yoda. It's also unknown whether or not the species of Yoda is a whill.
  • That Darth Sidious had another apprentice before and after Darth Maul, Darth Venom, who trained Darth Orcron and broke the rule of two, later to be killed by Darth Sidious, and Darth Rage, who was killed by Plo Koon. Darth Rage was really just a rumor of a new villain introduced in Star Wars Episode 2.
  • That the name of the Star Wars Galaxy is Vordarian Beltway Galaxy, and that it is 850 trillion light-years away from the Milky Way galaxy, though the Universe is found to only be 78 billion light-years in diameter.
  • Darth Ghore, the first Sith monarch. The first sith monarch is unknown at the point in the canon.
  • That Mace Windu comes from Eberius and not Haruun Kal.
  • That Darth Maul could not cloak his Sith Infiltrator.
  • Darth Kanamite, the "dumbest Sith."
  • Darth Thrax, Darth Vak, Darth Slane, Darth Vicone, Darth Voltron, and Darth Secretus.
  • That the Gran are from the planet Granicus.
  • That General Grievous Shakor is Omix Patra (instead of being Kaleesh).
  • That Sifo-Dyas is Ogdarian. Sifo-Dyas is human.
  • That Darth Plagueis was trained by Darth Imperius. The sith master to Darth Plagueis is unknown at the point.
  • That George Lucas considers the Expanded Universe fake. The Expanded Universe relates to the movies by extending to the story lines of the movies. George Lucas authorized the EU and is iron handed when it comes to Star Wars. The EU and the movies have some contradictions to each other. George Lucas approves of the EU story lines that take place in between the movies and what covers before and after the movies.
  • That Palpatine's first name is Dantius. Palpatine's first name is really unknown in the canon.
  • That the tradition of cremating dead Jedi originated by a Jedi being disintegrated by a bounty hunter.
  • That Darth Revan was killed by a Force Avalanche, and that his apprentice Malak had his organic jaw sliced off in a lightsaber duel with a Jedi master named Kylo Spartos. In the Star Wars canon Darth Revan returned from the dark side and killed Darth Malak.
  • Kaja Sinis, the first Jedi and a Civian, his first apprentice being Shintor Beerus, a Twi'lek. The first jedi was really a Skywalker priest.
  • Darth Mirage, Darth Sinistar, and Darth Horrar.
  • The Penari lightsaber, a Jedi scientist created yellow lightsaber capable of cutting through other lightsabers. The weapon was supposedly considered too dangerous by the Jedi Council, and destroyed. The picture of the weapon is actually a beam sword from Super Smash Bros. made obvious by the token floating underneath it. The saber is supposedly powered exclusively by illegal yellow saber crystals, which are only used in the Penari lightsaber.
  • Darth Tantalon, the most Force-powerful Sith and Darth Cladar, the physically strongest.
  • Yensar Platis, the best swordsman of the Jedi who allegedly had six arms and could wield six lightsabers.
  • That Aurra Sing was a Herclu. The species of Aurra Sing is unknown. George Lucas either never thought of a name for Aurra Sing's species or has come up with a named and not revealed it to the public.
  • Darth Scarz, the first Sith. The name Darth is generally thought to originate with either Darth Revan, or Darth Andeddu. The first Sith is either Xendor or the Red Armor Dark Lord. Darth Scarz must be the supershadow version of The Red-Armor Dark Lord or Ajunta Pall.
  • Xio Jade, the supposed aunt of Mara Jade. Xio Jade might've not been a supershadow creation. Xio Jade could've been someone from an earlier draft of Revenge of the Sith that supershadow posted on his site.
  • Thessius, the water planet Shmi Skywalker moved to.
  • The Rodar Wizards of Perdonis, who created the Kyber Crystal and, according to Suttle, "made the Sith look like nuns." If you look closely on Darth Sidious action figures in The Phantom Menace line ups there is no kyber crystal around Darth Sidious's neck.
  • That Plo Koon was trained by Diris Flassis, Yarael Poof by Zinkor Dawn, and Even Piell by Haccor Topkin.
  • The existence of three groups of Force-users other than the Jedi and Sith: the Sutrans, the Votari, and the Biotans.
  • That General Grievous, despite not being Force-sensitive, had a midichlorian count higher than that of an ordinary Jedi.
  • That General Grievous fought Nebar Foxis and two other Jedi before he encountered Obi-Wan and was almost defeated.
  • That the Galactic Republic is over 75,000 years old, has always existed in its current incarnation, and that its first Supreme Chancellor was Merk Quanto. In the canon the Galactic Republic is formed 25,000 BBY.
  • Darth Seer, who reorganized the Sith Order and trained Darth Mongerer.
  • That the most powerful Jedi prior to Yoda was Aenon Jurtis.
  • That Ce Ce Denownai had the highest midichlorian count for a female.
  • Dark Jedi named Shindor, Zuti Frugan, and Dezar Looger.
  • Darth Gilgon, Darth Augor, Darth Frordon, and Darth Baltimort.
  • Many other Jedi and Dark Jedi
  • The planet of Pilegias, claiming that Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi was born there. He also claims that Kenobi was found by the Jedi Order on the planet Kelchase, another creation of his. It is unknown in the canon of where Obi-Wan Kenobi was born.
  • The planet and system of Valorius, the supposed origin point of the dark side, which is destroyed in SuperShadow's sequel trilogy.
  • The Black Hole Devastator, a superweapon capable of destroying an entire star system by creating an artificial black hole.
  • That Mara Jade married Luke Skywalker five years ABY, despite contradictions in various EU books. In his defence, SuperShadow has said that "the EU is fake," but he himself uses many EU ideas and characters in his rough drafts and sequel trilogy plot summaries, such as Mara Jade, the kaiburr crystal, and even the original name of Palpatine, Cos Dashit.
  • That Exar Kun was not a very powerful Sith Lord, ranking less that 15 on SuperShadow's "Top 15 Most Powerful Sith Lords." This is surprising, as he claims that the game KotOR is canon, and in KotOR Exar Kun is referred to as a very powerful Sith Lord.
  • That General Grievous was killed in Palpatine's purge, executed by Darth Vader, while Episode III clearly shows General Grievous being tracked and killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
  • That Adi Gallia was killed by clones, Pablo-Jill was killed by clones on Gedius (one of his creations) and Bultar Swan was killed by Super Battle Droids. George Lucas doesn't give the Expanded Universe authors free reign over the movie character's fates. Adi Gallia and Pablo-Jill were killed by General Grievous during the clone wars. Bultar Swan went up against Darth Vader 1 month after Revenge of the Sith and another jedi named Koffi Arana killed her and than he was killed by Darth Vader.
  • The existence of the force powers Force Avalanche, Force Hibernate, Force Tornado, Force Grab, Force Fireball, Force Vanish, and Force Earthquake.
  • That Sifo-Dyas was one of the three Jedi Palpatine considered for an apprentice, along with Jard Dooku and a cyborg. When Sifo refused to join him, Palpatine killed him with a Force Fireball and Earthquake.
  • That Mace Windu survived his Episode III fall out the window, but gets killed by the revived Boba Fett in "Episode 7."
  • That Gnaren Viskus was the youngest-ever Jedi Council member, and that he foresaw the Yataker Rebellion.
  • That Count Dooku did not kill Sifo-Dyas.
  • That Anakin did not fight Dooku on Geonosis.
  • That the Yuuzhan Vong are not canon and never invade the galaxy. The Yuuzan Vong invasion was authorized by George Lucas and written various authors.
  • That Anakin Skywalker's middle name is Cleevon.
  • That the Dark Horse Comics are not canon. Those comic books are either secondary canon or continuity canon. Some of the Star Wars Comics by Dark Horse Comics are non canon. The comics that are non canon are Infinities and the tales that relate to Infinities and the only comics that aren't canon are what is not movie related or "what if" scenarios. There are Star Wars Tales that are non canon and Star Wars Tales that are either secondary canon and continuity canon.
  • That Jango Fett was not a Mandalorian, but merely wears junked armor. Jango Fett was raised on Concord Dawn.
  • That Zam Wessell is really a male and is in disguise as a female human. It says in the descriptions that she's a female.
  • That Liam Neeson getting into a motorcycle accident and George Lucas wanting Ewan McGregor to quit smoking were false rumors. On the Internet Movie Database we see the news on that and the trivia explains the facts.
  • That George Lucas asks fans to stop writing Star Wars fan fiction, when he in fact encourages it on sites such as FanFiction.net and George Lucas despises fan fiction on Star Wars. George Lucas is not concerned about fan fiction as long as it is not done for profit.
  • That George Lucas thinks that all Star Wars Expanded Universe material should be obliterated.
  • That a Sith Lord or Dark Jedi at death has her or his spirit obliterated from existence and there is no afterlife for a Sith Lord or Dark Jedi.
  • SuperShadow specializes in films about the paranormal, cryptozoology (the study of unknown creatures) and extra terrestrials.
  • The remains of the Separatists were taken back to Coruscant by Darth Sidious and his clone troopers when they came to Mustafar to save Darth Vader.
  • Windu's lightsaber was found and sold at an auction a few months later.
  • Luke's lightsaber was recovered by the Empire. Darth Vader put it in his lightsaber "trophy" case.
  • That George Lucas gives only a few hundred dollars a year to charity, because he spends almost all of his money on fast cars and beautiful women. He blames poverty on lazy people who cannot be bothered to find jobs. He also dismisses all other religions than Christianity as "trash".
  • That General Grievous was inspired by Darth Rage for a mechanical Force-using villain since George Lucas didn't include Darth Rage in the movies; he was said to be Darth Sidious's Sith apprentice after Darth Maul was killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
  • That Chancellor Valorum was executed by the Empire as a traitor to Palpatine when he is clearly shown being murdered in Clone Wars Volume 5 of Dark Horse's "Republic" series.

Current Status of SuperShadow.com

SuperShadow.com has had problems staying online, although it is hard to tell whether this is due to hacker attacks, or hosting provider troubles. Hackers have made a frequent target of the site, and some of the offline times have been marked by "suspended account" redirects. It is rumored that Supershadow.com is maintained by other people besides Mr.Suttle.
