Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited (Traditional Chinese: 台灣積體電路製造股份有限公司, abbrev. TSMC) Template:Nyse Template:Lse is the world's largest dedicated independent semiconductor foundry, with its headquarters and main operations located in the Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
Founded in 1987 at the Industrial Technology Research Institute, its market capitalization as of 24/01/2006 is US$49.23Billion.
The company is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange and on the New York Stock Exchange under the trading symbol of TSM. The Chairman and until recently CEO is Dr. Morris Chang. The CEO since 2005 is Rick Tsai. Philips holds a 19.1% stake in TSMC.
Although TSMC offers a variety of wafer product-lines (high-voltage, mixed-signal, analog), TSMC is best known for its logic product-line. Various fabless high-tech companies such as ATI, Broadcom, Marvell, NVidia, and VIA are customers of TSMC.
At least 1 semiconductor company, LSI Logic, re-sells TSMC wafers through its ASIC design services and design IP-portfolio.

- One 6-inch wafer fab in full operation (Fab 2)
- Five 8-inch wafer fabs in full operation (Fabs 3, 5, 6, 7, 8)
- Two 12-inch wafer fabs in production (Fabs 12, 14)
- TSMC (Shanghai)
- WaferTech, TSMC's wholly owned subsidiary 8-inch fab in Camas, Washington, USA
- A joint venture with Philips Semiconductor and with Singapore's EDB Investments (SSMC) which has also brought increased capacity since the end of 2002
According to Taipei Times TSMC is also planning to build another fab.
